PROJECT PLANNING
When planning what I wanted to do for my project and the direction I wanted to take my brief. I had to think about multiple different concepts and ideas, and take into consideration all aspects of what I wanted to produce and any problems or troubles that I could face throughout the project.
I spent a lot of time thinking about different routes I could go down with the self directed project for example I have an interest in fashion and have experienced working in that area previously so that was a consideration, although I had done a fashion project earlier in the course so I was more inclined to explore a different specialism. Illustration had always been a big interest of mine so I began to explore and think about different aspects of illustration and different artists/styles of work that I enjoy. I thought about different ideas for a theme and also a method/style for producing my work. After thinking about different routes of illustration I began to explore Manga.
As I have a big interest in Anime and Manga but I had never actually worked in the style before I thought it would be a very interesting and also rewarding style.
When considering different themes for my work, after choosing a medium/style I would continue with, I began to think about human behaviour and emotion as it is a big interest of mine as well. I produced several mind maps exploring different subjects under the theme of emotion.
After exploring human behaviour and different emotions I found a lot of the thoughts I had about each emotion were similar through all the different emotions, I then began to try to simplify these ideas and find a subject that could be directly linked to these human feelings. I moved onto sin in humans as a concept as I believe to a point sin is directly either a cause of or a result of multiple human behaviours. I then began to map different connotations and related ideas to sin and the specific categorized sins of man. The seven sins of man have been categorized and discussed for many years by many people, although the definitions I believe are quite outdated and not as straight forward as they appear when listed in this fashion, I explored different feelings and connotations associated with each of the seven sins.
I found most interest in the sin of GREED.
