HOME PRINTING 00

Exploring different methods of printing at home.

I have experimented with different methods of printing using minimal resources. Using a stencil made from paper, I covered it with black drawing ink and used it as a sort of stamp to create the prints. The more prints I did the strength of the mark would fade over time and therefore lost shape.

This method created quite a lot of leakage from the stencil and created a very rough outline, so I experimented with doing it the opposite way by cutting out the areas I would colour and use the empty space as my line. I used black and red drawing ink with a paint brush to create these.

The stencil afterwards when painted with ink I think is very effective and creates an interesting dry, sharp look. I took scans of these also.

I enjoyed this method and really like the red contrasting with the black. I did the same method however this time I cut away all of the negative space to print so I was just left with a stencil of the positive. I decided to do a much more detailed image taken from the manga comic Blame! I think this process was effective and worked very well.

Again I thought the stencil after being used was an interesting aesthetic.

I then used a similar stencil method to create some red marks on the print.
